Why linear power matters

A linear power supply is quieter than a switch-mode adapter because it never chops the mains at high frequency in the first place. Switch-mode adapters are everywhere because they are cheap, not because they are quiet.

A toroidal transformer, careful rectification, generous filtering, and two-stage linear regulation: power that behaves like a still surface, so your components reveal what is actually in the music.

The Crescendo BEAT powers two components at once: a 15V output at 2A and a 5V output at 3A, both live simultaneously. Each voltage is fixed rather than adjustable, a deliberate choice: a rail designed for exactly one voltage delivers that voltage best.

2 stages | PER RAIL

Regulated twice, so noise never arrives once

A first stage takes the raw rectified supply and absorbs mains ripple and load swings, then hands an already-clean rail to a second, low-noise stage that does the fine polishing. Each stage multiplies the other’s rejection. Noise that survives the first stage does not survive the second.

Built the traditional way, on purpose

A 70VA toroidal transformer, Schottky rectification, nearly 18,000µF of filter capacitance, and two-stage linear regulation. No fans, no shortcuts. The aluminium chassis runs silent and cool.

Over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature, and short-circuit protection are all built in. A selector on the underside switches the mains between 100-127V and 220-240V, so it works wherever your system lives.

Quiet, measured honestly

Output noise measures at or below 10µVrms with no load and at or below 50µVrms at full load, with ripple rejection above 82dB. We quote both figures because that is how real systems work: your gear draws real current, and the BEAT stays quiet while delivering it.

What crosses the barrier is the signal.

What does not: a lower noise floor, a blacker background, more low-level detail.
